. recent polls show president obama holds a lead over romney in the tri-state. both are scheduled to campaign tomorrow in virginia. the president will be in virginia beach while romney will hold a rally in springfield. in business news, bank of america is dealing with foreclosed homes, and more americans are feeling secure. more from linda bell. >> stock-index futures indicating open. little changed. 43% of americans see themselves as better off now compared with 33% when president obama took office in 2009. what is interesting is asixbank of america is being sued by the national fair housing alliance. they claim the bank disregarded repossessed homes in minority neighborhoods and have yet to make any improvement addressing the problem. foreclosed homes continue to accumulate trash have broken windows, and lack elements to avoid fires. bank of america says it stands by its property maintenance and marketing practices. 170 million people plan to celebrate halloween this year and are willing to spend big bucks on it. more on that in the next hour. linda bell reporting for abc 7 news

nominee mitt romney are campaigning today but their running mates are taking to the stage. vice president joe biden will rally in florida around 9:00 this morning. meanwhile, republican vice presidential candidate paul ryan is in new hampshire. this is not a live picture, but him at the event from this morning. despite the small size, new hampshire has become a key battle ground state. ryan was there just last week. the latest polls show the president ahead of mitt romney in nine battle ground states. mr. obama's biggest leads are in ohio, new hampshire, and iowa. of course, this could change in the weeks to come. the tightest races at this point are nevada and north carolina. the national average of those polled has president obama with a 49.5%, the potential vote 44% for romney. >>>in this weekend's presidential address president obama is calling on congress to help homeowners. >> last week mortgage rates were at historic lows. but instead of helping more and more hard working families take advantage of those rates. congress was away on break. instead of worrying about you they had alre

, everybody. the president will be fund-raising in d.c. today. mitt romney is doing fund-raising and rallying in pennsylvania, then heads to boston where he meets up with paul ryan for you guested it another fund raiser. the next big event is the first presidential debate this coming wednesday. the romney campaign appears to be advising surrogates to play up the president's experience and speaking skills and to lower expectations for mitt romney. beth myers whom you may remember headed up the vp search formy mitt romney's team, had sent out a memo saying while her boss has the issues and facts on her side the president comes into the debate with some advantages. she writes the president's big problem is his record. but the president does have plenty of first term accomplishments to brag about. now there has been a net job growth of 125,000 jobs since he took office. it's a small number considering how many people are still struggling, but shows an upward trajectory. and gets rid of a romney talking point. he likes to say we lost jobs overall over the
